Who we are
Sandhi is a non-profit education platform with a motivated team that strives to enhance the situation of students at primary government schools. With three chapters at Jharsa, Kanhai, and Shiksha Kendra, Sandhi has impacted well over a thousand underprivileged candidates since its inception in 2017.
What we do
Sandhi - which translates to ‘conjunction’ - brings people together. We deliver holistic education resources to those who have limited access. Sandhi has navigated through the pandemic by providing virtual and cloud-based content in the form of videos and podcasts.
Why we do it
The government school system in India breeds inequalities, failures, and dropouts. Recognizing that the levels of literacy achieved at each level of education are highly subpar, Sandhi attempts to establish a synapse between public and private schools.
The Problems We Solve
Inefficient Incentives
Measures to incentivise school going children have failed to generate the required wave of permutation, primarily due to the poor implementation of schemes.
Lack of Teachers
Education officers have admitted that the qualification of teachers is insufficient. The low number of teachers is supplemented with improper teaching methodologies.
Poor Infrastructure
Basic facilities like washrooms, physical education grounds are lacking, completely destroying the idea of a conducive environment for education.
Unsupportive Families
Parents are indifferent to their child's learning due to the lack of awareness regarding the benefits of education.
Our Two-fold Solution

In-person Learning
In this segment, we build teams of interested and capable volunteers that create a provision for buddy mentoring - based on a peer education system. Over the school year, we regularly organize group discussions on personality development, communication, and education. Liasing with corporates and the government administration, we've introduced micro exchange programs, co-curricular activities, day camps, subject clubs, and a house system to facilitate healthy competition. All three chapters have successfully been able to derive resources and hone the skills of their students.
Remote Instruction
As a result of over 800 surveys we conducted, almost every student has at least one mobile device and an internet connection. Since May 2020, our core team has translated the entire learning system online by building a virtual school environment. Volunteers and learners connect remotely to shared immersive thematic classrooms. Sandhi has also designed curriculum and developed videos and podcasts which are regulated by the primary school department heads at Delhi Public School, Gurgaon. This ensures that students unable to join virtual classes can keep up with the syllabus at home.
